The Spec

Method

Chill a thin ~6 oz glass by stirring crushed ice in it until the glass is frosted. Shake the Herbsaint and simple syrup over ice in a shaker to blend and chill, then strain into the empty frosted glass and top with the sparkling water. (A common modern variant swizzles the Herbsaint and syrup directly over crushed ice in the glass and omits the soda, which is essentially the proposed Sazerac House build.)

Served in a chilled thin ~6 oz glass (small tumbler / old-fashioned), frosted with crushed ice. Garnish: none traditional (the classic herbsaint-booklet recipe specifies no garnish).

Spec held as sourced — Verified classic. The house never guesses a drink.
