Ward 8: Straight rye whiskey, Lemon juice, Orange juice and Grenadine. Served in a coupe glass.
The Spec
Method
Add rye, lemon juice, orange juice and grenadine to a shaker with ice. Shake until well chilled (10-12 sec) and strain into a chilled coupe/cocktail glass. (Some historical versions serve it over crushed ice in a footed glass.)
Served in a coupe glass. Garnish: maraschino cherry (historically a small paper massachusetts flag; orange slice optional).
